I ran for Minneapolis school board because I truly believe we can only succeed if every child pursues learning in safe, orderly, and academically rigorous schools. The social and economic issues facing our city, our state, and even our nation, can only be addressed if we act quickly and radically to improve K-16 education.
I have worked as a consultant, workforce developer, career facilitator, and job coach with clients ranging from people in poverty to high level professionals. Having studied workforce trends in several industries greatly informs my ideas about how education can make the difference between poverty and affluence. Social justice begins with demands that we create a system that distributes academic offerings equitably, and that we educate every child as if they are our own. I am passionate about creating inroads for those who desperately need doors opened for them.
My own family is a picture of integration, and I have seen the rich benefits of loving across cultural lines. Our own story has shown me that children are best prepared when they learn to appreciate a wide spectrum of humanity. This compels me to advocate for integrated educational settings that have been proven to produce social and academics benefits for everyone.
I look forward to working with you to build bridges that will carry all Minneapolis kids from their neighborhoods into the seat of Minnesota's grand economy.
Together we can create better schools for a better Minneapolis.
