We’re mere months from going under - costing a dozen jobs in health care as well as leaving 50,000 patients to scramble to find care wishers - if we don’t get some actual, real, tangible help. Lip service doesn’t pay the rent.
Not a mention in the outline of downtown as a transit hub, which overlooks the many people who come there primarily to transfer from one bus or transit line to another, and might (or might not) be tempted by stay a while. Filthy bus stops, bus routes which often change their routes or which don't run as scheduled, don't help. Transit recovery from the pandemic is one key to donwtown.
Thanks Terry for another great interview. I was fortunate to meet Adam Duininck recently and was impressed with his knowledge, passion and experience about our great city and the work his team is providing. Adam's group and our city need our support and involvement now more than ever. I have been incredibly concerned that a tsunami of taxes will be hitting us sooner rather than later with the conditions facing our downtown area especially with it's significant reductions in property values and vacancies both spell considerable reduction in tax dollars that will need to be replaced by other tax sources. Buckle up there will be difficult decisions ahead for providing services and improvements in our city going forward without significant improvements in our downtown area and it's management. I hope our elected officials who had the luxury of an 18 billion dollar surplus are up to the challenges they have coming in the near future, time will tell.
